How did this come to our attention?

Oronde himself is a gun violence survivor. He was shot in the head when he was 10 years old and did all the rehab and has made a full recovery. See this story in the Philadelphia Inquirer about him:

He now works at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and is one of the kindest and most inspiring people I know. He is organizing this event because he was born and raised in Philadelphia and knows the community is hurting and desperate for some solidarity.
